Shining light on skin pigmentation triggers

Shining light on skin pigmentation triggers

Very often, I receive questions about how to lighten dark aging spots. So I thought I would empower you with a few ideas for addressing this problem.
I am not a dermatologist, so I won't recommend a miracle steroid cream that will solve all of your skin issues. However, I will share my own experiences and daily methods. It works for me, and I hope my tips will help you accomplish the same.

I encourage you to be patient while following my recommendations because, as you might know, it sometimes takes 4-6 months for plant-based remedies to show the results.

Let's first shine some light on the possible triggers of this issue. The pigment is formed after a long, complex process in the skin and usually starts after trauma or overexposure to the sunlight.

Trauma can be anything: a very inflamed pimple, over-aggressive exfoliation, laser or IPL treatment, bug bite, cut, or a burn. So treating all of the above with essential oil-based products to keep inflammation down is critical. Using mild natural skincare products, preferably certified organic or made with organic and natural ingredients, will help.

You probably have heard that dark spots are also called "liver spots" or "age spots"? Well, while our aging liver becomes sluggish from environmental toxins and unhealthy foods we consume for decades. Supporting our liver with herbs, spices, and vegetables is crucial.

Besides adding these fantastic goodies to my diet, I take organic milk thistle supplements to support the liver every morning. Releasing the toxins is essential not only for younger-looking skin but also for your health overall.

I start my day with a simple treatment that is inexpensive and effective. Fresh lemon juice!  Preferably from an organic lemon.  Every morning I apply lemon juice to the dark spots.  If you do it regularly, you will see them start fading in a few months.  Will the acid from the lemon completely wipe off your dark spots? Probably not, but for sure, they will become much less noticeable.

Do you know what works the best when it comes to slowing down the degenerative process and rejuvenating the skin on a cellular level? Fasting! I practice intermittent fasting 4-5 times a week.  Learn about benefits of intermittent lifestyle from the experts: DrJockers.com and DrMercola.com

As far as product recommendations, please follow the daily routine focusing on proper cleaning, nourishing, and protection of your skin from UV rays to prevent pigmentation from occurring in the first place. That's why I can't stress enough the importance of using  "Prodigal Sun" Serum

At Vika's we offer a gentle, non-drying alcohol-free cleanser - Facial Wash.
It helps to protect your skin from environmental pollutions. For extra exfoliation at night, add a bit of Exfoliating Facial scrub to this cleanse to remove most surface debris.

Many customers have reported a noticeable lightning effect after using Raw cream enriched with Shea Butter, Rosehip seed oil, Macadamia Oil, Aloe Vera gel, Rosemary, and Lavender. Using this cream for a period (at least 3-4 months) will help dark spots fade.

While we have many serum options, at night I always reach for Anti-Wrinkle Serum more than any other.  This oil blend is a very potent anti-aging treatment. One of the fantastic ingredients of this oil blend is frankincense oil that has been known to help lighten skin with dark pigmentation.

Acne “TNT” will keep at bay inflammation created by acne. This formula is based on an Ayurvedic  recipe using turmeric, jojoba, sandalwood and lemon essential oil.

What is your experience and strategies for skin pigmentation?  Please share so we all could benefit from it.
